Our Place Camelon
In Camelon, we have developed two groups of community connectors, an adult group and a youth group who are local people leading on the development of ideas. External support has encouraged many people, including young people to make a valuable contribution to the Our Place Camelon process. Both groups organised creative consultation events to involve lots of local folk in the creation of a vision for the area and ideas are being developed now. See the Our Place Camelon site for more information.
A number of local celebrations and small projects have been been funded through the community chest. A large number of small grants have helped progress and test new ideas and we are now on the verge of developing some major projects to make a real difference
Our Place Douglas
We have been working with the Douglas Open Spaces Group to develop a piece of ground adjacent to the Douglas Community Centre. There is already a polytunnel and raised beds on the existing site as well as a Mens Shed. Youth development is also happening, helping young people to develop social enterprises to re-develop their own community. See the Our Place Douglas site for more information.
Supported by the local regeneration team the group have formed a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) and have recently taken on a 5 year lease with Dundee City Council. Development of this site has been identified as a project proposal for Our Place Stage 1 funding.
Our Place Auchmuty
Auchmuty is part of Glenrothes but has a strong local identity. It has a lot of assets, lots of good space and buildings and a great deal of community activity. We have worked hard to increase the nature and size of the community connector group and they are now leading on lots of interesting projects from opening up Warout Primary School to developing a youth wing as an annexe to the learning centre. See the Our Place Auchmuty site for more information.
The school was recently selected as an attainment challenge funding school and will receive 4 year funding from the Scottish Government. This initiative will be complemented by the work that we have been developing through the Our Place Auchmuty framework working with amazing children and families.
