Training and Mentoring
We have provided training the length and breadth of the country – from Stranraer to Kirkwall and many points in between – through organisations like SCVO, local interfaces, Councils, HIE, Social Enterprise Networks and the Federation of Scottish Theatre. Subjects covered include all aspects of governance, financial management, charity accounting, legal structures and compliance, strategic and business planning, income generation and sustainability, and any other subject we can manage. We try to make the sessions as informative and useful as possible and to include a few lighter moments and a bit of fun. We even have a Full Cost Recovery exercise with sponges (washing ones, not cream-filled!)
We also offer bespoke sessions, tailored to the specific needs of the organisations – most recently “Financial Management” for Scottish Sports Futures staff, “Training for Treasurers” for Rape Crisis Scotland, and “Training for Directors” for Kirknewton Community Development Trust. The aim is always to deliver the sessions in a relaxed manner with time for questions and discussions and to build a relationship so that people feel comfortable about coming back to ask further questions.
Our aim is to build the skills’ of both staff and Boards so that they have increased confidence to take organisations forward legally, sustainably and in line with best practice. We take the fear factor out of scary subjects like financial accounts, compliance and good governance.
"Ever since starting Third Age Computer Fun, I have found that Community Enterprise have been exceedingly helpful. They now know our organisation very well and can always pinpoint exactly what we need. They have delivered a number of very different events and training sessions for us. This has always proved to be exactly what we need and extremely helpful. Our organisation would not be what it is today without their help and I am exceedingly grateful."
