Case Studies: Training and Mentoring
Our work supports the growth of confident, creative, financially stable community organisations.
Rape Crisis Scotland
Rape Crisis Scotland needed a bespoke training session for the treasurers of their various centres across Scotland. We chatted through their needs and put together a programme covering financial governance, responsibilities and compliance, budgeting, financial reporting and cash flows. The session was held at their Edinburgh Centre with treasurers coming from as far as Inverness.
Treasurers felt reassured about what they were already getting right, more knowledgeable about what was required of them and more confident to implement changes.
Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL)
We have a long relationship with Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL), one of the Third Sector Interfaces. As part of their Training Programme, we deliver Basic Book-keeping, Excel Book-keeping, Financial Governance, Charity Accounting and Budgeting for Funding. The aim is to make sure that voluntary and community organisations are getting the financial basics right.
“The trainer really knows her subject and knows how to get it across simply and with an element of fun not usually associated with budgets!”
As a result of these sessions, those involved with the finances of voluntary organisations are equipped with the skills and confidence to ensure accurate record keeping, robust financial systems, sound financial governance and compliance with OSCR and funders’ requirements.
